Doris J. Nodine

Riverhead resident Doris J. Nodine died Oct. 25 at the Peconic Bay Medical Center Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Riverhead. She was 84.

She was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Brooklyn to Florence (Fruhauff) and Walter Kohn.
Ms. Nodine worked as a salesperson at Swezey’s Department Store in Riverhead and enjoyed playing cards, family members said.

Predeceased by her husband, Russell, in 1991, Ms. Nodine is survived by her son, Gary, of Baiting Hollow; her daughters, Janice Chew of Mattituck and Laurel Martin of Florida; her sister, Marion Side of Connecticut; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother, Richard Kohn.

Visiting hours will take place Thursday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where Pastor John Fleischmann will conduct a service  Friday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
