Edna A. Polyn

Edna A. Polyn of Mattituck died at her home on Nov. 5, 2011. She was 91 years old.

She was born in New York City to Denis and Anna (née Kondracuik) Alexandrovich. For many years, she was a teacher in the New York City school system.

A resident of Mattituck since 1960, she and her husband, John, used to spend nine months of the year here and three months in New York City. John A. Polyn died on June 4, 2000.

Ms. Polyn is survived by her sons, Randolph, of Mattituck, and Denis, of Florida; a brother, Alex Alexandrovich, and sister, Sonia Jecusco; and two grandchildren, Christina Szakaly and Robert Polyn.

The family will receive friends Tursday, Nov. 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Russian Orthodox prayer services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, Queens.
