Rus Pesci

Rus Pesci, 87, of New Suffolk, N.Y., died peacefully on Oct. 24, 2011, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, following a long illness.

Rus was a graduate of the McBurney School and attended Franklin and Marshall College until he was called into the U.S. Navy in 1943, where he served as a radioman on an icebreaker in the North Atlantic.

After the war he enjoyed his career at O’Hanlon Reports and Insurance Investigation, retiring as president of the firm. He then started his telemarketing business as a service to the insurance industry.

Rus, an avid golfer, was a charter member of Island’s End Golf & Country Club in Greenport, where he enjoyed many years of play. He was also a member of the Garden City Country Club, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

Rus was a very happy man who loved his family and enjoyed the company of his friends, and he seldom, if ever, complained.

Rus is survived by Fran, his loving wife of 67 years and caregiver for the last seven; his sons, Robert and Mark, and their wives, Tinna and Melinda; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue Squad.

This is a paid notice.
