Rosemary McGoey’s fifth-grade class at Our Lady of Mercy Regional School in Cutchogue organized a food drive this month, beating its 500-item goal by over 170 items. Students carried bags of food out to the school’s parking lot, where Loretta Hatzel-Geraci, the director of North Fork Parish Outreach in Greenport, piled them into her car Thursday.

“It looks like there will be enough food this Thanksgiving for needy families,” Ms. Hatzel-Geraci said about the bags of donated food. “This is wonderful.”
