Two drivers hurt in four-car Mattituck crash
Two people were taken to area hospitals following a four-car crash on Main Road in Mattituck Monday morning.
It is not clear what caused the crash, which occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Emergency workers on the scene declined to give further details. A man driving a Dish Network truck was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and a woman driving a Buick LeSabre was also taken to an area hospital, though it is not clear which one.
Diane Miller of East Quogue said she was traveling east and turning into a medical plaza off Main Road when her BMW 3208i was hit from behind.
“I got clipped by a car going west, that’s all I know,” she said. “I’m just in shock.”
She said she was not seriously hurt. The rear of her vehicle sustained damage and was stopped at the entrance to the parking lot.
The Dish Network truck and a Mercury Sable were stopped side by side opposite the BMW in the eastbound lane near the Empire gas station. A fourth car, the Buick Le Sabre, sustained extensive front end damage.
A man and a woman in the Mercury did not appear to be injured.
Traffic was being diverted through Old Main Road, officials on the scene said.
