This is it, folks! It’s my last column for 2011. You won’t read about any happenings in Greenport again until the Jan. 12, 2012, issue. I’d like to thank each and every one of you who has contributed to this column over the past year. The information you provide is much appreciated and makes this columnist’s job that much easier to do.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greenport is proud to partner with the Greenport School District and CAST to support three local families during Christmas and into the winter. They supported Jillian Ruroede’s Angel Tree, CAST’s annual holiday drive and adopted a Holy Trinity family, providing apparel to keep them warm and gift cards and toys for six children and their parents.

I want to remind you all to attend the New Year’s Day breakfast buffet Jake Thorp is hosting to help defray the cost of his Eagle Scout project to replace the handicapped ramp and deck at Poquatuck Hall in Orient. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Children under 4 eat for free. Get tickets at the door or in advance by calling 477-6382.

In case you missed it, I want to let all Greenport High School graduates know about a big, big event we’re trying to get off the ground: an all-class GHS reunion. If you’d even contemplate attending, please list your contact info at ghsclassreunion.com. If this flies, it’s going to be the biggest event of the century in Greenport!

A great big welcome home to Chris Fisher, who will spend the holidays at the home of his grandparents, Eileen and Joe Verity. It’s good to have you back again, Chris!
