Catherine T. Seewald

Catherine T. Seewald of Orient Point and Glendale, Queens, died Jan. 3 at The Hospice Inn in Melville. She was 86.

She was born July 2, 1925, in Brooklyn to Ernest and Catherine (Hauck) Otto.

Family members said she enjoyed growing tomatoes, knitting, fishing and scalloping.

Predeceased by her son Robert, Ms. Seewald is survived by her husband, John J. Seewald; five children, John, of Somers Point, N.J., James, of Melville, Thomas, of Pennsylvania, Cathleen Vega of Dover, Del., and Kenneth, of Malvern, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 5 and Friday, Jan. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport by Father Thomas P. Murray, with the assistance of the Ministry of Consolation. Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery.
