Theodore Marangas

Theodore Marangas, a Mattituck resident since 1964, died Feb. 14 at his home. He was 86.

He was born Nov. 1, 1925, in New York City to Alice (McKee) and Theodore Marangas. In both World War II and Korea, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Seabeas and aboard LSTs in the Philippines. He married Catherine Curran in 1949.

Mr. Marangas is survived by his wife; his daughters, Catherine Wilinski, Alice Donlan, Eileen Rayeski, Theodora and Theresa; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Cutchogue, followed by interment at the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Katinka House Southold Town Adult Day Care or the Mattituck Fire Department.
