BLOG RECAP: Southold takes down Pierson for Class C title

GARRET MEADE FILE PHOTO | Justina Babcock and the Southold girls basketball team will play for the Class C county championship Monday.

The top-seeded Southold girls basketball had little trouble taking out No. 2 Pierson/Bridgehampton Monday night to clinch the Class C county championship, 46-19, at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue.

Southold advances to play a non-elimination game against Class D champion Shelter Island Tuesday back at St. Joseph’s. The First Settlers will also play March 7 against the Nassau county champion at Farmingdale State College.

Southold won for the third time this season against Pierson.

Below is a live blog from Monday night’s championship game.
