Blotter: Muttontown man charged with DWI on Nassau Point Road

• Evan Kaplan, 52, of Muttontown, N.Y., was charged with DWI just before 8 p.m. on Feb. 18, after police said he was observed crossing the double yellow line on Nassau Point Road. Police said Mr. Kaplan’s eyes were bloodshot and his breath smelled of an alcoholic beverage. He was taken to police headquarters and held for arraignment.

• Jeffrey Jackson, 49, and Julie Jackson, 47, of East Marion were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana at 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 17 at a Route 25, East Marion, location. No further information was immediately available.

• The owners of the Mattituck Main Road Laundromat reported a window at their store was smashed and money was stolen from the shop sometime between 10 p.m. Feb. 16 and 3 a.m. Feb. 17. This is the second time the laundromat has been broken into in the past several weeks. Police said the owners plan to install security cameras and alarms.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
