Greenport Village Agenda: DEC presentation on deer hunting

JAMES COLLIGAN FILE PHOTO | A DEC rep will give a presentation about deer hunting at tonight's Greenport Village Board meeting.

The Greenport Village Board will hold its monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Third Street firehouse.

A representative from the state Department of Environmental Conservation will give a presentation on deer hunting. Village Mayor David Nyce has said allowing deer hunting on village-owned land would help control the deer population. If approved, Mr. Nyce said only bow hunting will be permitted.

Other items to be discussed at tonight’s meeting includes permit applications submitted by the Greenport Farmers’ Market and the North Fork Chamber of Commerce. The Village Board is also expected to schedule a special meeting to discuss a downtown parking meters proposal.
