A film starring Justin Timberlake and directed by the Academy Award-winning Coen Brothers is slated to film in Riverhead soon.

The Riverhead Town Board on Tuesday authorized a lease with Fantastic Voyage LLC for them to film scenes from a movie called “Inside Llewyn Davis” at the Riverhead Water District property on Northville Turnpike and Route 105 for $10,000. The contract gives them access to the property, to erects sets and film, from March 12 through April 2.

Inside Llewyn Davis, which is reportedly scheduled for 2013 release, stars Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan and John Goodman, although a lesser known actor named Oscar Isaac has been cast in the title role.

The film is reportedly about the 1960s folk scene in Greenwich Village, and based in part on the late folk singer Dave Van Ronk’s 2002 memoir, entitled “The Mayor of MacDougall Street.”

It has already begun filming in New York City and photos of Justin Timberlake and Carey Mulligan, in costume during shoots, have surfaced in New York and entertainment media.

Directors Joel and Ethan Coen’s movies include “Fargo,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” “Raising Arizona,” “The Big Lebowski” and “No Country for Old Men,” the latter of which won a best picture Oscar in 2007.

The contract with the town also includes access to 24 hours of water district personnel and up to 14 hours of police security.

Riverhead has been the scene of big-time movie and television in recent years, as the HBO show “Boardwalk Empire” shot scenes at a Calverton farm last year and HBO’s “The Sopranos” filmed in Riverhead twice several years ago, including the time they temporarily put a “For Sale” sign on Riverhead Raceway for a scene, and sent local race fans into a panic.
