Village Board to discuss parking meter contract, piercing 2 percent tax cap at special meeting

The Greenport Village Board will hold a special meeting at the Third Street firehouse at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The board is expected to vote on a contract to install parking meters downtown and to set a public hearing to discuss piercing the state’s new 2 percent tax increase cap for this year’s budget.

Also on the agenda are two resolutions that were defeated at the Village Board’s Feb. 27 meeting. Those items include the North Fork Chamber of Commerce’s permit request to use a portion of Mitchell Park for its third annual art show and a $4,500 contract to hire Christine Thorpe as an outside consultant for the Tall Ships event.
