William Larry DePetris

Lifelong North Fork resident William Larry DePetris died March 11 at his home in Cutchogue. He was 81.

Born Oct. 2, 1930, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport to Vincenza and Harry DePetris, he was educated above college level and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, ranked private first class. He married Anne M. Doroski on June 26, 1955, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue.

Mr. DePetris was a pharmacist and worked at Barker’s Pharmacy in Mattituck for 40 years and at Southold Pharmacy for eight years.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church and had been a member of the Mattituck Lions Club, Mattituck American Legion and Cutchogue Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Mary Anne Newalis of Mattituck and Joanna O’Rourke of Riverhead; his brother, Dr. Joseph DePetris of Texas; and one granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue. Arrangements were handled by DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck and Malverne Funeral Home in Malverne.
