Jeanne M. Bierling Catapano

Jeanne M. Bierling Catapano of Southold died at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on March 15, 2012. She was 79 years old.

Mrs. Catapano was born in Freeport, N.Y., on March 22, 1932, to Irene Carol and Herman Otto Bierling. On June 24, 1950, she married Salvatore M. Catapano Sr. in Bethpage.

Together they lived in the Hicksville and Bethpage communities until moving to the North Fork in 1986. Here she was a member of East End Full Gospel Church in Riverhead.

Predeceased by her husband, Salvatore M. Catapano Sr., on January 1, 2012, she leaves four children, Michele I. Catapano Arauz Castillo of Southold, Dr. Michael Catapano (Karen) of Cutchogue, Salvatore M. Catapano Jr. (the late Geri) of Southold and Neal D. Catapano (Dorothy) of Southold; two sisters, Beverly Morton and Adrienne Seneck, both of Florida; 13 grandchildren, Dina McDonald (Scott), William S., Michael, Peter, Erick, Jonathan, Daniel, Brianne, Salvatore III (Annie), Aileen, Michael Jr., Stephen and Susan; and four great-grandchildren, William, Amaya, Cameron and Michael Jr. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Kiebel.

The family received friends on Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 19, at the funeral home with the Reverend Don Loper officiating. Interment was private.
