Alfred R. Tesiny Sr.

Alfred R. Tesiny Sr. of Mattituck died March 18, 2012. He was 88 years old.

He was born in Middle Village, Queens, on Oct. 7, 1923, to Nicholas and Elizabeth Tesiny. After graduating from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, he served in the United States Army.

A longtime resident of Middle Village, he owned and operated Al’s Meat Market on Dry Harbor Road.

A longtime summer resident before moving to Mattituck permanently in 1980, he enjoyed fishing and blue claw crabbing. He also enjoyed collecting animal statuettes.

Predeceased by his wife, Doris, in 1983, Mr. Tesiny leaves his children, Sharon McAvoy and Alfred R. Tesiny Jr., and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Tesiny, all of Mattituck; two sisters, Grace Crane of New Jersey and Norma Viccaro of Middle Village; five grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends Thursday, March 22, from 9 to 10 a.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will follow immediately, the Rev. George Summers officiating. Interment with U.S. Army military honors will be at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
