Robert H. Foos
Robert H. Foos of Cutchogue died April 18 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport. He was 86.
Mr. Foos served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. In June 1949, after graduating from college, he married Claire A. Haerting, also a U.S. Navy veteran, having served with the WAVES for 18 months in Washington.
Mr. Foos worked as a junior civil engineer with the Board of Transportation in Manhattan and then as a civil engineer at Honeywell Corporation until his retirement.
He was a member of American Legion Griswold-Terry-Glover Post 803 in Southold. He enjoyed bowling, golf and gardening, but most of all, family members said, he loved spending time with them.
Mr. Foos is survived by his wife; his children, Jane Biskup (George) of Highland Falls, N.Y., and Stephen (Jenny), of Florida; and four grandchildren, Christine and Jill Biskup and Kevin and Keith Foos.
The family received friends April 23 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue, where visiting hours will continue Tuesday, April 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, April 25, at noon. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
