Looking for something to do this weekend? Try one of Main Road Red’s picks.

BARBARAELLEN KOCH PHOTO | Coach Spinelli and Riverhead girls basketball team were honored at Riverhead Town Hall last month.

Get set to put on your jackets and head outside this weekend.Where to, you ask? Main Road Red has got some great suggestions for you during these chilly days of spring.

First up, Riverhead. This town is a sporting place to be this weekend. There’s the highly anticipated parade down Main Street for the L.I. Champion Blue Waves girls basketball team Sunday. We’ve also got Riverhead Little League’s opening day Saturday. The league will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in style with an expected appearance by former Mets legend Mookie Wilson. And don’t forget the annual fundraiser for the Riverhead High School baseball team.

East End Arts Council and the Suffolk County Historical Society are taking on an interesting topic: death. (Wouldn’t this be more appropriate for fall?) Click on those links more information about their shows.

For animals lovers, the Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter group will be present at two events: the opening of the town’s first dog park and a Hogs and Hot Rods –Rock the Shelter fundraiser. And if you still can’t get enough of the pooches, try Mutts and Mimosas at Palmer Vineyards

Have you ever been to the Custer Institute in Southold? The institute offers great family-friendly events enjoyable for science buffs young and old.

This week the focus is on Saturn. Check them out.

Join JABS and other organizations for the 2nd annual Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser in Honor of Camryn Koke. Camryn is seven years old, and those involved in the efforts are hoping to raise money for a drug that could mean a huge breakthrough for Camryn and others with her type of CF.

Keep sending me your events and feedback and don’t forget to follow/like me on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest.
