Janina C. Sysol

Janina C. Sysol, a longtime resident of South Jamesport and Garden City, passed away on April 26, 2012, at the age of 87.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to John and Mary Anna Choinski on May 6, 1924. During World War II, she worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as an overseas supply agent.

A long time resident of Garden City and South Jamesport, Janina married Theodore M. Sysol in 1948. During World War II, she worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as an overseas supply agent. While raising two children she was employed as an archivist by the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. She was a lifetime member of the Kosciuszko Foundation. Her kindness and elegance were an inspiration to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Theodore, her sister Helen, her son Gregory and his wife Patricia, their children Paul, Cynthia and Elizabeth and husband Jacob Dallenbach, and their daughter Ella, and her daughter Sandra Limoncelli and her husband Jerry, their children Mary Anne and Amy. She will be deeply missed.

The family received friends April 28 and 29 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Services were held at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, both in Cutchogue.
