Blotter: Alleged Greenport car thief arrested again on fugitive warrant

• A Greenport man was arrested late last month on a fugitive warrant, Southold Town Police said.

Jason Mealy, 35, was stopped and arrested on a parole warrant and held for the Suffolk County fugitive squad April 22, according to reports. Police did not describe the nature of the warrant.

Mr. Mealy had been arrested last December on weapons charges and for stealing a car from a home on The Cross Way in East Marion, according to an earlier report in The Suffolk Times.

• Police are looking for the thief who took a radar display and GPS chart blotter from a Greenport boat sometime on Thursday, April 22. A Greenport resident reported that the items, valued at $1,650, were taken between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
