Riverhead Garden Club volunteers (from left) Kathy Banschback, Mary Rogers and Doramay Pearce, all of Aquebogue, on Thursday afternoon during the first day of the Peconic Bay Medical Center's 17th annual East End Garden Festival held this year in the Staples Shopping Center parking lot on Route 58.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! If you are scrambling to try to find that special place to take Mom, pick up a copy of the Suffolk Times, Riverhead News-Review or Shelter Island Reporter and check out the restaurant menus and specials. And check out events.timesreview.com to find other cool things to do with Mom this weekend.

There’s still time to pick up last minute plants for Mom. Peconic Bay Medical Center and Greenport PTA are running their annual plant sales through the weekend.

Riverhead School district is hosting the Art In Action Show tonight, featuring artwork from every student in grades K-12. An amazing effort that is sure to be a great event.

Want to hear some great music and support a great cause? Bishop Mc-Gann Mercy is hosting “Battle of the Bands for Ronald McDonald House.” Mattituck and McGann Mercy are just some of the local high schools participating.

Get up and go to the May Mile on Saturday morning! You can run the 5K or walk around the beautiful grounds at Peconic Landing. Stick around for the party afterwards.

The North Fork Education Initiative is hosting GROW: a fundraiser for the new Peconic Community School. A great event for children and families. Haven’t heard of the North Fork Education Initative? Read more about them here.

Have a great weekend. Get out and enjoy the sunshine and warm temps.
