Having a field day in Greenport — with cancer prevention in mind

Elementary school students from Greenport and Oysterponds participated in Relay Recess on Friday, a student-version of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

The goal is to promote healthy decisions for cancer prevention.

Following an opening ceremony during which students from Early Act — a Rotary-sponsored community service club — from Oysterponds presented a $600 check to Alison Irving, a local Youth Initiative Recruiter for the American Cancer Society, students paraded around the Greenport School track, then participated in field day activities.
