‘Crazy Fork’ to open at former Antique Deli in Mattituck

A new restaurant called Crazy Fork is coming to Main Road in Mattituck.

Mattituck resident Danielle Grzegorczyk said she decided to close her Antique Catering & Deli at the end of February and plans to reopen as a sit-down lunch and dinner restaurant next month.

“It’s very hard to make it with a deli in this economy, especially when there’s so much competition in the area,” said Ms. Grzegorczyk, who ran Antique since 2005.

At first, Ms. Grzegorczyk said she planned to sell her business and she placed an ad on Craigslist, which garnered three potential buyers. But in mid-April, Ms. Grzegorczyk said she had a change of heart.

“I decided to make a go at it,” she said about opening a restaurant. “It’s going to be all me.”

Ms. Grzegorczyk, a full-time cook at the Riverhead Corrections facility, said she’s very excited about her new business and plans to get involved with the community by holding fundraisers and supporting local benefits. When asked about the menu, she said, “It’s a secret until we open.”

Ms. Grzegorczyk said she’s looking to open June 1.

As for the name Crazy Fork, Ms. Grzegorczyk said she had help from her chef to come up with the name, which she said ties into the restaurant’s theme.

Ms. Grzegorczyk said the sign currently up that reads “Poppy’s Deli” is there because she had to take down her old sign. Poppy’s was the name of the deli before she took it over, Ms. Grzegorczyk said.

Stay tuned to for details about the grand opening.
