VIDEO: Egg drop competition at Oysterponds school

JENNIFER GUSTAVSON PHOTO | Oysterponds elementary school in Orient held its annual Egg Drop event last week.

Why did the chicken egg drop from the roof at Oysterponds elementary school in Orient? To see if a student’s project could protect it from the pitfalls of gravity.

Over the past few weeks, school psychologist Dan Goldfarb and teacher Jennifer Wissemann have been helping students with their projects, which is part of the school’s science, technology, engineering and math program known as STEM.

During the annual Egg Drop event Friday, students watched as the school custodian dropped their egg enclosures from the roof. Out of the 10 projects, seven eggs survived.
