Cops: Two-car crash sends drivers to hospital

A two-car crash that occurred in Southold Wednesday night sent both drivers and some passengers to a local hospital for various injuries, Southold Town Police said.

Police said Lyn Rausch, 51, of Selden, was traveling eastbound on Route 48, when she allegedly went off the road and struck another vehicle, driven by Kenneth Hippner, 40, of Lebanon, Ohio, at the intersection of Boisseau Avenue and Route 48. Both drivers and the passengers in Mr. Hippner’s vehicle were transported to Eastern Long Island Hosptial by the Southold Fire Department for the treatment of various injuries, police said. The nature of those injuries and the number of passengers sent to the hospital was not included in the press release.

Police said the incident is currently under investigation.
