Photo of the Day: Osprey chick on Jamesport radio tower

Staff photographer Barbaraellen Koch last week captured this interesting shot of an ospreys’ nest in Jamesport.

But unlike most other nests, which are found across the North Fork this time of year, this nest was built not on a platform — but a radio tower.

The tower sits atop the Jamesport Fire Department headquarters on Manor Lane.

This is the first time Ms. Koch ever noticed a nest on the tower, which stretches at least two stories above the two-story building.
