Dorothy W. Romano

Dorothy W. Romano, formerly of Cutchogue, died Aug. 5 at Peconic Landing in Greenport, where she had resided for five and a half years.

She was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Queens to Johanna (Lubsen) and William Ohlerich. She graduated in 1943 from Bayside High School in Queens and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in 1946.

She married Francis (“Babe”) Romano in 1957, and worked as an office manager at New York Telephone Company for over 30 years.

She resided in Cutchogue from 1987 to 2006. She was a tireless volunteer at her church and for many local organizations, a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a lifelong member of Phi Mu Fraternity.

Aunt Dottie was a loving, humble, bright, giving person. She loved to travel and was an avid reader. She led line dancing and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Predeceased by her husband in January 2007, she is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Arrangements were handled by Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A service will take place at a future date at Calverton National Cemetery.
