Leonard K. Du Brul died Aug. 2 at The Shores at Peconic Landing in Greenport. He was 88.

He was born Dec. 15, 1923, to Dr. Leonard Charles Du Brul and Florence Kavanagh of Forest Hills. He attended Ripon College in Wisconsin before enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving at the rank of sergeant in the Signal Corps in the South Pacific. In 1946 he returned home and continued his education at Columbia University’s School of General Studies.

He had a long career as export manager at American Hospital Supply Corporation (now Baxter International) until he retired in 1986.

Mr. Du Brul and his wife, Edna, lived in Laurel Hollow, N.Y., for over 50 years. Family members said his passion was sailing and he spent many summers at the tiller of his sailboat in Cold Spring Harbor and Shelter Island Sound. The couple moved to Peconic Landing in 2003, and he often said how much he enjoyed his time there and the company of its residents and kind staff, family said.

He is survived by his wife and his daughters Karen and Holly. He was predeceased by his daughter Marcie. Funeral arrangements were private and handled by Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.
