Cops: Thefts reported in Nassau Point and Greenport

Detectives are looking for the thief of a $300 LG flat panel television and two Bose speakers, valued at $100, reported stolen from a Nassau Point home two weeks ago.

• A Greenport man reported the theft of a mountain bike valued at $287 from Mitchell Park on Tuesday, August 21, police said. The man said he left his bike on the ramps leading to the marina slips while he worked on his boat between 6 and 7 p.m. and returned to find the bicycle missing.

• A Greenport woman witnessed the theft of an orange Stihl leaf-blower, valued at $500, from a neighbor’s pick-up truck shortly after midnight on Saturday, August 25, police said. The woman, who described the suspect as a possibly white male with black hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants, confronted the thief and followed him for several streets before losing sight of him.

• A Greenport man reported that on Saturday afternoon, August 25, someone took his blue specialized mountain bike and left their own, a blue Del Sel mountain bike, behind on his lawn.
