Cops: Greenport teen with two prior arrests charged with trespassing

A Greenport teenager who was previously charged with assault and disorderly conduct during fights in the past two years was arrested Friday night after he was found trespassing on Greenport High School grounds, Southold police said.

William Mokus, 19, was spotted on school property about 8 p.m. after he had been told by the district to stay off the school’s grounds, according to a police report.

Mr. Mokus was arrested by Southold police, processed and released on bail, police said.

The teen had been arrested twice before after getting involved in two fights, once in 2010 and again this past June, according to police reports.

In 2010, Mr. Mokus and another 17-year-old resident got into a fight on Front Street during the annual Greenport Maritime Festival. Mr. Mokus was arrested by police and charged with misdemeanor assault. The other teenager in the fight suffered a dislocated shoulder and other injuries, and was not charged in the incident, police said.

Mr. Mokus was again arrested by police in June following a disturbance with three other Greenport youths near the Greenport Post Office, according to a police report. When police arrived on the scene, the four teenagers involved dispersed, though police brought two of the teens back to the scene.

Mr. Mokus later returned to the scene with a piece of wood to fight the teens, who he said attacked him, police said.

Mr. Mokus, along with Justin Matese-Pollock, 19; Ryan Greenberg, 18 and Gregory Vankesteren, 18, were all charged with disorderly conduct, according to a police report.

Mr. Mokus is due back in Southold Justice Court for the trespassing charge at a later date, police said.

Additional information about the status of his cases was not immediately available.
