Mary Elizabeth Crandall

Mary Elizabeth Crandall, longtime resident of Brightwaters and East Hampton, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2012, at San Simeon by the Sound, Greenport, N.Y. Mary was born to the late John McKeon and former Bertha Miller on May 13, 1911.

A homemaker and avid gardener, Mary devoted much of her life to volunteer work, including delivering Meals on Wheels in East Hampton, volunteering at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and teaching Sunday school and participating in the altar guild at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bay Shore.

She is remembered by her family and friends for her perpetual smile and pleasant spirit. Her most recent joy was meeting her newest great-granddaughter, Kaya Belle Posillico.

Predeceased by her husband, Charles, and son-in-law Anson (Bo) Herrick, Mary is survived by her beloved children, Mary Lou Herrick and Russell Crandall (Maureen); grandchildren, Adam Crandall, Adrienne Posillico (Robert), Daniel Herrick, Christopher Herrick (Sherry), Leah Constantine and Deborah Stapon (Stephen); and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary was buried with her husband at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in East Hampton on Oct. 12, 2012. There will be a celebration of her life in the near future.
