Recap: Southold Town discusses offshore wind, court security and ticks

A proposed offshore wind park, security in Southold’s justice court and the possible creation of a townwide tick task force are all up for discussion at this morning’s town board work session.

Deepwater Wind is planning to build a wind park three miles southeast of Block Island, and is looking for a letter of support from the Southold Town Board.

Town Justice Rudy Bruer will also speak to the board about courtroom security. Southold’s justice court shares the same space used for other town meetings, and there is currently no security there.

Suffolk County recently formed its own tick task force, which held a public hearing in Peconic just two weeks ago.

We will be blogging live from the meeting beginning at 9 a.m. This evening’s meeting is at 7:30 p.m. A public hearing on potential uses for Community Development Block Grant Funds will be held tonight.
