Thomas W. James of Southold died Nov. 2 at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport. He was 90 years old.
He was born in New York City on Oct. 24, 1922, to Thomas and Martha (Young) James.
Mr. James served in the U.S. Army in 1942-43 and married Laura Heidtmann in Baldwin, N.Y., on June 10, 1944. He had worked in marketing for Gulf Oil Co. in Long Island City.
He enjoyed golf, according to family members, and belonged to the North Fork Country Club.
Mr. James is survived by his wife; his son, Thomas, of Connecticut; his daughter, Judy Welter of Stony Brook; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Burial was private, with arrangements by Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. Family and friends will gather at North Fork Country Club in the spring, at a date to be determined.
