East Marion resident James Louis Fischer died Nov. 7 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport. He was 64.
Mr. Fischer was born Aug. 17, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., to Louis and Edith (Hesemann) Fischer. He married Joyce Gabbert in Bronxville, N.Y., on June 14, 1969.
Mr. Fischer received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University in 1970 and a J.D. law degree from Fordham University in 1976.
He was a founding partner of the law firm London Fischer in New York City in 1990.
According to family, he enjoyed sailing, hiking, playing golf, photography and playing the piano.
Mr. Fischer is survived by his wife; his daughters, Christina Johnson of Greensboro, N.C., and Rebecca Connor of Newton, Mass.; his brother, Stephen, of Armonk, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
Visiting hours were held Nov. 10 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A memorial service will take place Saturday, Dec. 15, at Village Lutheran Church in Bronxville, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
