Moving premiere for film about Greenport man

A near capacity crowd, consisting largely of Greenport residents, attended the premiere of “Harry Hellfire” at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor Sunday.

The documentary film tells the story of Greenport’s Harry Biechele. For six years, filmmaker Jim Morrison followed Mr. Biechele’s life of musical passion, frustration, pain, personal loss, drugs, alcohol and even a problem with chocolate.

“It was scary,” Mr. Biechele said of seeing the film. “But I’m still here.”

Uproarious applause followed the film, which, despite the gravity of some of its subject matter, kept audience members laughing throughout.

Greenporters came in droves to see the film. Audience members included Mayor David Nyce,  former Town Supervisor Josh Horton and wife Yvonne Lieblein, and Mr. Biechele’s family members and former bandmates.
