Cops: Greenport man arrested with 6 pounds of marijuana

Police on Wednesday arrested a Greenport man accused of taking possession of a package shipped from California containing six pounds of marijuana with a street value of $60,000.

Raven Gatto, 39, of Bridge Street, who describes himself as a subcontractor, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and released on $5,000 bail.

Southold police reported receiving an alert from California authorities of a package believed to be containing marijuana being shipped to a destination in Peconic. Officers of the East End Drug Task Force tracked the package and arrested Mr. Gatto when he took possession of it Wednesday afternoon, according to a report.

The investigation is continuing.
