Southold Police arrested two local men over the past several days for vehicle-related offenses, including the reported theft of a Ford work van.

On Tuesday evening police charged Thomas Shearin, 33, of Mattituck with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle for allegedly taking a 2007 Ford Econoline from Old Sound Avenue in Mattituck. Mr. Shearin was released on $100 bail, police said.

An Orient man wanted by the Suffolk County Police on vehicle and traffic violation warrants was picked up in Greenport on a new charge Wednesday morning, police said.

Knowing that his license was suspended, police reported spotting Paul Armstrong, 31, driving through Greenport. He was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and later turned over to the county police, according to a report.
