Margaret Mary Erdman
Margaret Mary “Peggy” Erdman of Southold died on Christmas Day at the age of 87.
She was born in Astoria, N.Y., on Oct. 9, 1925, to John “Jack” and Irene Rice. After graduating from St. Agnes High School in College Point, she married Edward J. Erdman on April 3, 1947, at St. Luke’s R.C. Church in Whitestone, Queens.
Together they made their home in Whitestone until moving to the North Fork in 1994. She was a devoted communicant of St. Luke’s R.C. Church and active in the Rosary Society and Whitestone Pro Life. Here, she was a communicant of St. Patrick R.C. Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Erdman; her children, Daniel, of Exton, Pa., Kevin, of Southold, Margaret Mary “Jackie” Cestaro of Floral Park, N.Y., and Edward, of Flanders; 15 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jonathan, Nicholas, Michael, Kerri, Kevin, Kara, Joseph, Grace, Erin, Mary, Ray-Joe, Eamon, Kellianne and Emily; and six great-grandchildren: Dakota, Sierra, Christopher, Lyla, Benjamin and Rhiannon. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Rice.
Calling hours were held Dec. 27 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 28 at St. Patrick R.C. Church. Interment was at St. Patrick R.C. Cemetery.
