Irena Jasny

Irena Jasny of New York City died at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport on Jan. 18, 2013. She was 95 years old.

She was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Sept. 18, 1917, and came to the United States in the late 1970s.

Ms. Jasny had been a photographer.

Surviving are her friends Emilia and Ilya Kabakov; their children, Viola Kanevsky and Isas Kanevsky; and their children, Joseph Morag and Orli Morag.

Visiting hours will take place Thursday, Jan. 24, from 11 a.m. to noon at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Prayer services will begin at noon, Father Thomas P. Murray officiating. Interment will follow at New Bethany Cemetery in Mattituck.
