Cops: East Marion man held on DWI after fleeing police

An East Marion man who was driving while intoxicated was arrested after fleeing from police Thursday night, police said.

About 8 p.m. a town police officer attempted to stop Michael Zervos, 46 for a traffic violation on Route 25 in Greenport, officials said. Mr. Zervos ignored police sirens and increased his speed, continuing east on Route 25 and ignoring all traffic control devices, a report said.

He was located in East Marion, in his vehicle behind an occupied home, said police.

Mr. Zervos was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while in intoxicated, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle and several traffic violations, police said.
