Emma Jensen

Emma Jensen of Southold died March 6, 2013. She was 85 years old.
Born Oct. 6, 1927, to Isak and Helga Marie (Henriksen) Reinertsen, she was delivered by midwife in her parents’ home in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a graduate of Bay Ridge High School.

On Oct. 26, 1946, she married Normand Jensen at Zion Lutheran Church in Brooklyn. For 48 years they lived in West Islip and were active members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Babylon.

For the past 18 years she had lived in Southold and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greenport.

Emma had been a cook in the West Islip elementary schools and was a retired accounting supervisor for the Suffolk County Welfare Department.

Predeceased on Jan. 17, 2003, by her husband of 56 years, she is survived by her children, Joyce (Christopher) Fabiszak of Jamestown, R.I., and Craig Jensen (Tracy Stigers) of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Terry Jensen (wife of the late Keith, May 7, 2003) of Southold; five grandchildren, Erik (Carrie) Jensen, Gregory (Amy) Jensen, Tracy (Jesse) Fabiszak, Kenneth (Meredith) Jensen and Jennifer Jensen; and eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Ansley, Emma, Owen, Chloe and Isabelle Jensen and Casey and Nathaniel Fabiszak. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Mabel Cushing, Harold Reinertsen and Ralph Reinertsen.

The family received friends March 10 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Funeral services were held March 11 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Garret M. Johnson. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
