The Mattituck-Cutchogue school board is expected to discuss tonight how the district’s new common core standards and its projected fund balance.

According to the meeting’s agenda, assistant superintendent Anne Smith will give a presentation about the new Common Core State Standards Initiative, which is designed to foster grading equality across the nation and ready children for college and careers.

District business administrator Michael Engelhardt will also give a presentation about the district’s fund balance. Superintendent James McKenna has proposed in his 2013-14 spending plan to apply some reserves to offset the tax levy increase.

In addition to continuing financial talks tonight, the school board will likely vote on resolutions to approve sixth-grade teacher Nancy Krakowka’s retirement, high school science teacher Noah Bacher’s medical leave and clerk Elizabeth Doubrava’s resignation.
