Cops: Greenport man arrested after altercation

A Greenport man was arrested Thursday evening after striking a Riverhead man inside the Patriot Gas Station in Greenport, Southold Town Police said.

Anthony Williams, 54, knocked the man to the ground, causing a laceration above the man’s left eye and bruising to the back of his head, police said. The incident occurred about 7:15 p.m., police said.

The man, who police said was inside the gas station getting change to vacuum his car, drove himself to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Mr. Williams was charged with harassment and released on bail, police said.
