Southold man airlifted to hospital after crash

A Southold man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center after a two-car accident Friday afternoon.

Sarah Smith, 20, of Southold failed to yield the right of way when making a left turn onto Route 48 from Kennys Road in Southold at about 4:30 p.m., striking 21-year-old Jeremy Wright’s vehicle, according to Southold Town Police.

Both drivers were hospitalized, police said. Ms. Smith was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport and Mr. Wright is under evaluation at Stony Brook. Their conditions were unknown.

No other injuries were reported.
