Michael Mazzella

Michael Mazzella of Riverhead died suddenly at his home Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was 70 years old.

He was born Jan. 8, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Vincent and Mary (Cacciuttolo) Mazzella.
Formerly of Port Jefferson Station, where he was a mechanic, he moved to Glenwood Village seven years ago.

Many will remember Mike from Moe’s Country Dawgs, the hot dog wagon he operated with his daughter Amy in Cutchogue.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, playing cards and Lotto, taking walks and drinking coffee. Family members recalled his smile, his laugh and his love of family, especially his girls.

He is survived by his daughters, Geniene Vasquez, Cara Mazzella and Amy Kiely; five grandchildren, Gino and Tristen Vasquez, Brody and Brett Kiely and Braylen Mazzella; and his forever love, Barbara.

The family received friends April 4 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, where religious services were conducted April 5 by Father Peter Garry. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Sayville.
