Adam Joseph Kowalski Jr.

Adam Joseph Kowalski Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, age 88, entered his heavenly home on April 10, 2013.

Mr. Kowalski, known as “Chip,” was born in Riverhead, N.Y., and grew up in South Jamesport, N.Y. He had been a longtime resident of South Windsor, Conn., and had resided in McDonough, Ga., for the last year.

Mr. Kowalski was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Kowalski, daughter Anne Marie and granddaughter Katie Ann. He is survived by his sister, Rose; his oldest son, Ronald, and his wife, Shelly Kowalski, of Concord, Calif.; his middle son, Richard, and his wife, Ann Kowalski, of Sherman, Texas; his youngest son, Edward Kowalski, of Stockbridge, Ga.; his daughter Sharon and her husband, Rodney Baxley, of McDonough, Ga.; 10 grandchildren: Ronnie, Michael, Joseph, Laci, Tyson, Christopher, Andy, Sammie, Matthew and Adam; seven great-grandchildren: Finley, Cooper and Hudson Kirkman, Ryder and Ella Jane Kowalski and Rachel and Connor Kowalski; and his beloved bichon frisé, Buddy.

He was a loving husband and devoted father. Construction was his profession for over 60 years and he did not retire until the age of 73. Throughout his career he worked in more than a dozen states from New York to California, and many in between. He loved the ocean, fishing, clamming and boating. Some of his children’s fondest memories of him involve eating clams and oysters on the half shell and fishing on Long Island Sound.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi in South Windsor, Conn., and had resided with his daughter Sharon after his wife’s death last September. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue, N.Y. Arrangements were entrusted to Coster-Heppner Funeral Home of Cutchogue.
