Photos: Racing through Greenport, drinks in hand

Carrying forth a tradition that began more than 100 years ago in Paris, Greenport Village held its second annual Waiters’ Race on Saturday morning.

Food and drink servers from North Fork restaurants, wineries and breweries raced through downtown streets balancing a filled glass and a bottle on a tray as bystanders cheered them on.

Blue Canoe’s Lennon Sarfati won first place, followed by Kait Barry from Greenport Harbor Brewing Company in second and Katie Haas of Noah’s in third.
