Ferdinand Lucka

Ferdinand Lucka of Mattituck died Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was 91 years old.

Born Jan. 15, 1922, in Brooklyn to Anthony and Constance Lucka, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.

He married Beatrice Masandas in Newark, N.J., in 1952, and then enjoyed a long career as a surveyor with the Town of Hempstead.

Fred was a member of the Knights of Lithuania and had been an active choir member of The Church of the Annunciation in Brooklyn for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck

Predeceased by his wife, Beatrice, on Sept. 2, 2006, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Emily Vigliarolo; a nephew, Frank Vigliarolo; and a niece, Maryann Vigliarolo.

The family received friends Wednesday, May 22, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck by Monsignor Joseph Staudt. Interment was at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
