Cops: Greenport man helps himself to glass of water; gets arrested again

A Greenport man has been arrested for the second time in a week — and the fifth time since 2011 — after he was caught trespassing at a home on Second Street, Southold Town police said.

A 14-year-old boy found Jason Mealy, 36, in his kitchen, filling a glass of water at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. When the teen asked Mr. Mealy what he was doing in the house, he said someone had let him in. He exited the house after the boy asked him to leave, but was arrested a short time later, police said.

Mr. Mealy was also arrested last Wednesday on a drug charge after police found him in possession of cocaine and two crack pipes, police said. His previous arrests were for gun possession, a stolen motor vehicle and for stealing a donations jar at a local 7-Eleven, according to previous reports.
