Kathleen M. Oates

Kathleen M. Oates, a Waterwood, Texas, resident since 1996 and former resident of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

Kathy was born in Greenport, N.Y., on March 11, 1939. Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Joseph, she is survived by her children, Joseph Eugene and Amy and Dan Casagrande and their children, Grace Kathryn and Daniel.

Kathy was very active in her community and her church. She was a member of the Waterwood Women’s League and regularly volunteered in numerous community activities. She attended St. Stephen the Martyr R.C. Church, where she served as co-chair of the bereavement committee and helped grieving families find peace in the loss of their loved ones.

Visiting hours will be at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park Drive, Huntsville, Texas 77340, beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, with a rosary service to follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephen the Martyr Church, 101 Stagecoach Road, Point Blank, Texas, Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. Private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Waterwood Women’s League Scholarship Fund.
